The Spyderco Shaman - a great EDC designed along the theme of the ever-popular Spyderco Native, features a high saber ground 3.61" leaf-shaped blade made of CPM-REX76 steel that is 0.145" thick. The ergonomic denim micarta handle, 4.70" closed, has chamfered edges for comfort, nested stainless steel liners, Compression Lock, lanyard hole, and a multi-position steel pocket clip. The Spyderco Shaman Knife has an overall open length of 8.31", and it weighs 5.2 ounces. Made in the USA.
CPM Rex 76 is the first grade that Crucible patented specifically for production using powder metallurgy. They wanted a steel that could reach 69-70 Rc, with increased vanadium compared with previous ~70 Rc high-speed steels like M42. This was only practical using powder metallurgy. Rex 76 doesn’t look that different from Rex 45, but with increased tungsten and carbon content, this gives Rex 76 higher potential hardness and extreme edge retention.
